In today’s music industry, the rise of AI-generated content has sparked a wave of concern among musicians. Many fear that artificial intelligence is coming not just for jobs, but even for the most loyal fans. But is this really the case? On the latest episode of the Profitable Musician Show, Bree Noble dives deep into this topic to offer insight—and some much needed reassurance—for artists everywhere.

AI Music Is Not Stealing Your Perfect-Fit Fans

Bree Noble opens the episode by sharing an experience that many musicians may find relatable: spotting an AI-generated song with a compelling message during a scroll through Instagram. Immediately, Bree Noble recognized the vocals for what they were—”clearly that is an AI vocal”—and instinctively chose to move on, despite the song’s strong lyrics 00:01:08.

Curious about how others might respond, Bree Noble dove into the comments. What unfolded was a split of opinions. Some users identified and criticized the use of an AI voice, pointing out everything from lip-syncing issues to the commonality of the vocal itself. Others responded with unreserved enthusiasm, declaring, “this song is fire, triple fire emoji. This is so awesome. This message is amazing.” 00:03:31.

This division brought up a critical observation for Bree Noble: there are fundamentally different types of listeners in the music world.

Consumers vs. True Music Fans

Through this encounter, Bree Noble realized a key distinction: “Those people that were saying fire emoji, who is this artist, I need to find this song, this message is amazing, and even saying I don’t care if it’s not a real artist, I care only about the message and the message can still be powerful, I realized these are not actual music fans.” 00:05:31

True music fans, the ones every artist dreams of attracting, engage with music on a much deeper level. They care about the artistic journey, the personal investment, and the unique humanity that goes into every song. As Bree Noble puts it plainly:

“True music fans care about the artistic nature of the composition. They care that there’s a real human behind it. They want to know the behind the scenes and the backstory and all, you know, what it took to produce this song.” 00:06:10

On the other hand, there are “consumers”—people who are happy to be entertained by a catchy tune on TikTok, no matter its origin. They may like a message or beat, but have little interest in supporting or connecting with the creator behind the music. Bree Noble makes it clear:

“I don’t want those kind of people as my fans. I don’t want to have to feel like I’m feeding this, like, insatiable appetite for entertainment.” 00:07:48.

Why AI Can’t Replace Real Fans

So, should artists worry about AI stealing their audience? Bree Noble offers a powerful reassurance: “AI music is not coming to steal your perfect fit fans. Your perfect fit fans are not going to care about AI music.” 00:09:05

While AI might encroach on certain income streams—such as demo vocals and session gigs—those who deeply connect with music, who crave authenticity and personal stories, will not trade their favorite artists for a synthetic alternative. Even as social media fills with AI-generated tracks, your real fans “want what you have. They want the struggle that births something amazing. And they can feel that in what you’re creating.” 00:10:44

Embrace Your Artistry

Rather than fear AI, Bree Noble encourages musicians to focus on creating impactful art and cultivating true superfans:

“You just need to keep looking for your true superfans and amass that group of 1,000 superfans that puts you over the edge of having a sustainable career. That’s all you need to care about. And all that AI stuff going on, that can just be noise.” 00:12:21

So keep investing in your uniqueness, your story, and your music. The right fans—your perfect fit fans—are still out there, ready to support and celebrate your journey.
